Staten Island: Introduction to Computer Science for Elementary School Teachers (Day 1)

In this professional learning opportunity participants were introduced to three of the main Computer Science concepts: Algorithms, Programming and Abstraction. Unplugged (no computer) activities were introduced so they can relate Computer Science concepts to the student in the technology classroom, the non-technology classroom and everyday life. Time was spent discussing possible modifications for SpEd and ELL populations. Lastly, time was spent discussing where Computer Science fits into the classroom culture and how to nurture the possibilities of increasing exposure to Computer Science within the school.
